The Group’s Aims
- Lobby DWH for clarity about parking spaces and increased parking provision
- Liaise with the Management company to help shape and negotiate a fair parking scheme for all residents
- Work with the Planning sub group to provide relevant material for objections to planned developments which might create further long-term parking difficulties
- Explore alternative parking solutions.
Achievements so far
- Replacement of six temporary parking spaces, removed from outside the sales office, with ten temporary spaces at the top of Robert Street (January 2019)
- Input into revised parking policy which commenced on 3rd June 2019. Achieved inclusion of a 2 hour short stay permit which enables carers, drop offs, deliveries, cleaners, etc. in addition to the use of Visitor Parking booklets.
Update June 2019
- Permission has been granted by York Racecourse to park cars all day in car park ‘A’ off the Knavesmire Road during race-day meetings. Simply show your parking permit to the parking steward and display it in your windscreen to gain access.
- Residents and their visitors are reminded that parking cars on the roads is prohibited and will result in £100 fines. All vehicles must display the correct permit and be parked in either a visitors or residents parking space.
Update March 2020
- David Shoesmith has taken over responsibility for Parking Issues.
- The temporary Visitor Parking behind Carousel House appears to have been withdrawn although we have had no formal notification of this from DWH. We have asked DWH for further temporary provision as we now only have 11 visitor spaces – and are awaiting a response.
- We are in discussion with DWH and Watson about the problem of contractors’ vehicles using visitor spaces and parking throughout the site on the roads. This is partly caused by recent very poor enforcement of parking violations – an issue which Watson are currently addressing.
- We are trying to arrange a meeting with DWH to discuss options for parking on the site when the roads are adopted by the local authority on completion of building works.
Update March 2020/2
- We have now received a reply from DWH regarding provision of extra visitor parking spaces now that most of the spaces behind Carousel House have been marked up for new residents. Bays for apartments which are being marketed will be available as visitor spaces until a week before completion. They will shortly be temporarily marked as visitor parking. These will initially be mostly behind Carousel House and between Medallion House and Harlequin House and later beside Cocoa House. This may mean some hunting around for spaces as availability will change over time.
