Maintenance of rainwater gutters and downpipes

A number of houses have had water coming through the top floor ceilings causing damage in the bedrooms. This arises from blockages in the gutters and rainwater channels on the outside roof. David Wilson Homes recommends that these channels and pipes of our properties are maintained annually, to prevent them from becoming blocked with leaves and debris.

Doing the job ourselves is impracticable and if we individually arranged to have it done it would cost each household in the region of £500. This is because it would require a cherry picker and two operatives.

However, the Residents’ Association has obtained a quote from the company which does this work on the apartments for Watson. If we all have it done when the company is on site, it would cost as little as £35+vat per property (or £50+vat for the detached Leetham houses).

Before we can go ahead and arrange it, we have to make sure there will be a good takeup of the offer. Please therefore would you fill in the form below and let us know what you think. We need to have all the responses in by 22 January. If you respond more than once, only the last one will be counted.

Finally, we need a volunteer in each block to collect the money from up to twelve households and arrange payment to the contractors. Please would you consider volunteering.

If you are renting your house, please would you let your landlord see this offer.

Please note that this offer if for the houses only. It is not needed for the apartments because Watson arranges the maintenance of the roof as part of their service.
