Local History Audio Walks

Clements Hall Local History Group has produced a collection of audio-guided local history walks. These are free guided walks on izi.travel which is an app which can be downloaded to a smartphone. The app then allows you to listen to commentaries while walking around the area. It tells you about significant features of the history of the area and shines a light on notable buildings. The app features a dynamic map, historic images and descriptive text and the commentary plays automatically as you arrive at a point.

So far the Local History Group has produced the following walks:

  • Hidden Clementhorpe
  • A Walk around South Bank in York
  • The Changing Face of York
  • Bishy Road in York: a Shopping Street in Time

Details of the walks can be found at http://www.clementshallhistorygroup.org.uk/projects/our-new-self-guided-audio-walks/our-collection-of-walks/
